Excess weight creates a vicious circle that perpetuates type 2 diabetes. Being overweight causes insulin resistance in your muscles/fat tissues, which in turn forces your system to secret more insulin. When you have increased insulin in your blood, it makes you more overweight because your body is being encouraged to store fat; which raises your body insulin resistance.
DID YOU KNOW: being overweight and sleep deprivation (getting less than 7-8 hours)
The best thing to do to lose weight is to evaluate your nutrition. You need to know what nutrition is; “nutrition is what you eat, what you smell, what you taste, what you see and what you hear”
You need to maintain a healthy eating lifestyle; which means eliminating many of North America classics such as fast food, refined sugar/flour, soft drinks, which are all hallmarks of poor eating habits. These empty calories put stress on your system and contribute to insulin resistance. Once you cut them out of your life, you will see positive changes in your weight.
Eliminate any “white” foods from your meals, including white pasta, white trice, white bread, white potatoes, and white sugar. All of these quickly result in very high levels of insulin in your body. Overtime, this will result in elevated insulin levels causing your cells to lose their insulin sensitivity.
According to the American Diabetes Association. shedding 10 to 15 pounds can have tremendous health benefits, including lowering your blood sugar, reducing blood pressure, improved cholesterol levels, and less stress on your joints.
In addition, the National Health Institute, states that healthy eating habits and exercise can cut your risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% percent.
